Why Lane Consulting?

05

After more than 15 years in executive leadership roles across both scrappy nonprofits and large corporations, I began to notice a pattern: no matter the size or sector, organizations tend to face the same two big challenges—and they can make or break teams.

The first? Great people get promoted into management roles without a roadmap. I was one of them. Like many first-time managers, I turned to books and online courses in my limited free time, determined to “figure it out.” But leadership doesn’t come with a user manual—and the stakes are high when you’re responsible for guiding others.

The second challenge? Change. It’s inevitable—and yet, most organizations struggle to navigate it well. The ones that do succeed aren’t just lucky – they’re intentional. They plan for internal alignment and clear, consistent communication with employees, customers, and stakeholders alike.

Over time, helping teams overcome these two hurdles became the theme of my career. And the more I worked through big transformations, the more I realized something important:

I don’t just tolerate change—I run toward it.

A mentor once told me, “Amy, most people don’t run toward the fire. But you do. You should think about how you can multiply your impact.”

That stuck with me.

And that’s exactly why I founded Lane Consulting.
